One of the cool things about living in Denmark, for me, is that I bike…a lot. I bike to drop my daughter to school, to meet friends, to the park, to the beach...even grocery shopping. Cycling is a way of life here. And if you’re going to spend a good part of your life on your bike, you might as well do it in style right? So, I’ve put together a bicycle gift guide with 10 cool bike accessories (and where you can buy them) that combine the best of Danish design and cycling. If you live in Denmark, these would be perfect gifts for your friends and family.  Go on, rock their ride.

1. Funky cycle bells

Let’s start small, shall we? In terms of size, these bike accessories may be small, but who says they have to be ordinary? Why go for a mundane black cycle bell when you can go funky and floral. These little beauties are sure to add some pizzaz to the most ordinary bikes.

Where to buy: The floral cycle bells are from Lomax  while the red polka dot is from Coop. You can also find some funky cycle bells, especially for kids, in the Tiger stores.

2. Cycle baskets

I’ve noticed a good number of cycles (mainly cycles for males) don’t have a basket. Why would you not have a basket?! I think a cycle basket is one of the most useful bike accessories to have. I usually put my handbag or laptop bag in my basket on my way to work and my shopping bags in when I’m out grocery shopping. Wouldn’t one of these gorgeous cycle baskets from Bike Attitude make a lovely gift?

Where to buy: The one fromBike Attitude is available at Cykel Gear.  You can also find a host of cycle baskets at most bike shops.

3. Crates and carriers

Still don’t like the idea of a basket cramping your cycle style? How about these handsome wooden carrier crates or simple front carriers by Velorbis. They're sturdy, they’re stylish and need I say, absolutely useful. I love the Velorbis design aesthetic - they sure know how to fire up the combination of quality, utility and iconic design.

Where to buy: Visit the Velorbis bike shop at Nørre Farimagsgade 63, 1364 København K or get them through their online store

4. Bikezac, the shopping bag for cyclists

bike gear must haves - bikezac shopping bag for cyclists
So you’re one of those smart people who’ve got themselves a cycle basket. But, as it turns out, some of your shopping bags are too big to fit into your cycle basket. Here’s Bikezac to the rescue. The bags are sturdy and have hooks you can attach to the luggage rack at the bike of your bike. I'm loving the blue and grey Bikezacs.

Where to buy: In addition to their web shop, you can buy a Bikezac in 46 bike shops across Denmark and the United Kingdom. Find the shop closest to you here.

5. Helmets with a personality

Know someone who’s very particular about everything he/she wears and wouldn’t be seen dead in an ordinary, run-of-the-mill cycle helmet? Enter Nutcase Helmets. I call them helmets with a personality. There’s something for everyone here. My favourite is the red Alien Abduction one. Or perhaps you want a helmet that doesn’t look like one or better still doubles up as a hat? Get yourself a Yakkay. Yakkay’s a Danish brand that lets you personalise by combining any helmet with any hat cover.

Where to buy: Yakkay webshop.  While Nutcase is an American brand, you can buy Nutcase Helmets in Denmark via their Danish webshop

6. Floral décor

dress up your cycle with flowers

The simplest and most vibrant way to personalize your bike is with flowers. Help your friend dress up her bike with flowers for her cycle basket. Floral décor just instantly lifts up the look of even the most ordinary looking bikes.

Where to buy: You’ll find the flowers at most Tiger stores or you can buy them online at Cykel Partner

7. Folding briefcase and tool bag

If you haven’t gathered by now, let me confess. I am in love with Velorbis products. So after their gorgeous cycle crates and carriers, I’ve got the Velorbis folding briefcase and tool bag for you. With this folding briefcase and tool bag, you’ll be riding high on the cycle style-o-meter.

Where to buy: Visit the Velorbis bike shop at Nørre Farimagsgade 63, 1364 København K or get them through their online store

8. Phone holder

10 awesome bike accessories you need in denmark
If there’s one thing all cyclists need, it’s GPS. But it’s kind of hard to be checking the GPS on your phone when you’re cycling and have to watch out for traffic. The phone holder comes with a clamp to attach to your cycle’s handlebar which means an easy, hands-free way to navigate using your GPS.

Where to buy: Thansen webshop

9. Bottle holder

Don’t let that throat parch up while you’re biking. Get your water fix without having to dig into your bag. These bottle holders can be easily attached to your bikes without cramping your style one bit.

Where to buy: Cykel Partner

10. Mud flaps

Here's another class act in biking gear. Want to be considerate to your fellow cyclists and rock your ride? Sögreni describes its Mud Flap as a polite way of telling fellow bicyclists behind you that you do not want to spray them with water or mud.

Where to buy: The Sögreni bike shop on Sankt Peders Stræde 30A, 1453 København K or their webshop
